Stranged Writing Release Reading

The Gravity of the Thing celebrates the release of Stranged Writing: A Literary Taxonomy on October 13th. Join us at The Stacks Coffeehouse to hear contributors Joshua James Amberson, Alex Behr, Lucie Bonvalet, Benjamin Kessler, Matt Rebholz, and Eli Ronick read their defamiliarized works.

Janice Lee, author of Separation Anxiety (CLASH Books)

Janice Lee is the author of the forthcoming poetry collection, Separation Anxiety (CLASH Books, 2022). Janice (she/they) is the author of seven books of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, most recently, Imagine a Death (Texas Review Press, 2021).

Jesi Bender, author of Dangerous Women (Dancing Girl Press)

Jesi Bender is the author of the recently published chapbook, Dangerous Women (Dancing Girl Press, 2022), as well as the author of the play Kinderkrankenhaus (Sagging Meniscus) and the novel The Book of the Last Word (Whiskey Tit).

Cameron Quan Louie, author of Apology Engine (Gold Line Press)

Cameron Quan Louie is the author of Apology Engine, a chapbook forthcoming from Gold Line Press. Cameron's poetry appeared in The Gravity of the Thing's Summer 2017 issue, Fall 2017 issue, and will appear in our Stranged Writing anthology.

Adria Bernardi, author of Benefit Street (The University of Alabama Press)

Adria Bernardi, whose short fiction will appear in The Gravity of the Thing's upcoming Stranged Writing anthology, is the author of Benefit Street (The University of Alabama Press), which won FC2's Catherine Doctorow Innovative Fiction Prize.

Joseph Harms, author of Evil (Expat Press, 2022)

Joseph Harms, whose poetry appeared in The Gravity of the Thing's Spring 2016 issue, is the author of Evil, forthcoming from Expat Press. Evil consists of four novels (Ades, Baal, Cant, and Wyrd) written between 2007-2018.
